You guys that have known me for a long time know that I'm a big believer in small business and a huge voice against trading time for money - i.e. getting a job.

The bottom line is that as long as you are trading time for money you are limited to what you can make and are definitely crippled when it comes to living your dreams. I believe someone's time is better spent learning how to create passive income (income you get whether you're working or vacationing) instead of working for a paycheck. Why?

  • Income potential: You get paid forever for what you do today
  • Tax Advantage: The government has a different rulebook for business owners
  • Freedom: How nice would it be to never punch a clock again?
  • Control: Who controls your destiny? You or your employer?

There are several paths people take to create passive income. Each has it's own pros and cons. For mere mortals like you and I, business and real estate is definitely the way to go. These are the vehicles to create passive income:

  • Paper: Stocks and Bonds and the like
  • Royalties: Money from book or music sales
  • Real Estate: Rental Properties
  • Business: Starting a small business

If I haven't lost you yet, let me just tell you that IT'S NOT THAT HARD! For me it's a lot easier and enjoyable than working in some factory somewhere!

Over the years I've had and been involved in many companies. Some have done ok, some have bombed, none has made me a jillion dollars. Each business has taught me something. Succeed or fail, I constantly am learning what it takes to create a successful business.
